ABSTRACT

The search for biomarkers is one of the most challenging aspects of clinical research and is most intriguing and requisite in early diagnosis of deadly diseases such as cancer. The omics-based approach of study of disease generates high throughput data, and computational pipelines are being designed to analyze the data to find disease biomarkers. In this chapter, we discuss the potential application of computational methods in enabling identification of potential biomarkers, which is important not only from the point of view of a diagnostic and prognostic tool but also helps to determine the effectiveness of a new candidate vaccine.
