ABSTRACT
Introduction The following chapters deal with the issues that need to be considered in the sustainable design of individual buildings. In this chapter we establish what is involved in developing a strategy for a planning application and how that relates to environmental impact assessment and strategic issues such as climate change, sick building syndrome (SBS), life cycle assessment, cost and commercial factors.
