Provision should be made for facilities such as crèches, primary schools and doctor’s surgery; a range of retail facilities, such as a post office, pharmacy and corner shop; and open space with play areas, ideally within 500m safe walking distance of the development, or 1km at the most. In addition, facilities such as a bank or cash point, leisure centre, community centre, place of worship, public house and open access public area should be available or provided within 1km of the development.
