ABSTRACT
When it comes to effective policies for the management and conservation of biological and genetic diversity, fisheries are the poor cousins to agriculture. Why the comparison? There are three reasons:
Firstly, agriculture has relied on genetic resources for decades, using gene banks and other formal and informal collections. This process is only now beginning to happen in aquaculture.
