In Chapter 12, we saw that there are individual diﬀerences in how much people know about people in politics and the positions political ﬁgures hold on social issues. The fact that people who are more educated tend to have more political knowledge raises some interesting questions. Is the relationship due to the role of education in producing a citizenry that is better able to learn information? Is it that more educated people process political information in a deeper way? Are they better able to make connections between events and people that enhances their memorability?
