ABSTRACT
Blatz, a Canadian, was born in 1895 and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. He was the youngest of nine children in a family that was warm and close-knit. His father, a tailor, came to Canada from Germany in the 1860s. Bill's German extraction is noteworthy, for it was to playa part in determining the course of his career.
