ABSTRACT

Now that we have had a look at the Enlightenment philosophy that spawned the great impulse toward freedom, let us turn to a new social worldview that would consign those “obsolete” values to an early grave. What is needed, say community-oriented social reformers (in and out of journalism) at the start of the 21st century, is quite simply a new model based on community authority that substitutes the people for the elites that have been setting the agenda.
