ABSTRACT
Our model of adjustment to adoption places great importance on the characteristic stressors and resources of adoptive parents. The strengths and vulnerabilities that adoptive parents bring to the adoption will affect their ability to adopt to family life. We examined parent characteristics and their relation to the difficulty and outcome of the placement, recognizing that characteristics are not only a snapshot indication of parental qualities, but are indicators of the larger sphere of parenting style and family environment.
