ABSTRACT
The quality of life of those living in slums, welfare hotels and S.R.O. tenements differs radically from that of their more affluent neighbors. In part, their physical environment can be held responsible. Below, some of the physical aspects of S.R.O. living will be examined. Specifically, the nature of the accommodations, the facilities provided, and their ramifications on social interaction will be discussed.
