ABSTRACT
there are two general ways of learning: passively, by attending to stimuli, as occurs in the classroom when one looks and listens; actively, by behavior, as occurs in the classroom when one actually does something. Thus, the child who watches the teacher write a letter on the board is learning in a passive mode; when he begins to use the pencil to imitate the teacher's production, he is learning in the active mode.
