ABSTRACT
Open-ended writing assignments are opportunities to develop long-term professional interests. Each subdiscipline in political science offers a set of rich and varied subjects for students to explore. Writing assignments provide students opportunities to explore information and gain expertise about political events and processes. Whereas students may not be able to change what they need to do for these assignments, they can change how they complete their assignments.
