ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the challenges of the application of environmental justice concepts developed in the Global North in the Latin American context. In so doing, a set of explanatory factors for differentiation of the understanding and handling of environmental justice is presented. Furthermore, examples of environmental justice movements in Latin America are given. Particular focus is laid on Argentine cases, since the term ‘environmental justice’ is rarely used in this country, making it necessary to identify different wordings for similar contents.
