ABSTRACT

The data in this chapter deal with perceptions of rural diversity and inclusion among a number of Northern Ireland-wide service organisations. The research is presented under the following main headings: awareness and experience of rural exclusion, division and integration; understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity and interdependence; Equality and New Targeting Social Need imperatives and the EDI implications; training in prejudice awareness and reduction; dialogue with and among rural people; and collaboration with other organisations including Rural Community Network. Background notes on the organisations identified in this and following chapters are presented in the Glossary of this book.
