ABSTRACT
Few topics get more technical than particle physics. Steven Goldfarb is part of a team of scientists that works on the particle collider at the European Organization for Nuclear Research [translated from French] (CERN) and discovered the Higgs boson. Upon naming the Higgs boson Particle of the Year, TIME Magazine declared, “Forget Person of the Year – the discovery this summer by the Large Hadron Collider of the Higgs Boson particle was one of science’s greatest achievements” (TIME staff, 2012, p. 1).
