The task of selecting a topic for investigation as a local project is for many sixth-formers a daunting one. It may be possible to select the topic from a list of appropriate themes prepared as examples by an examination board or to persuade a member of the school staff to provide such a list, but to do so reduces the scope for initiative and individuality and undermines some of the educational merit of local projects. So, only consider this as a last resort despite its strong attraction.
