ABSTRACT

The terms of reference for this study set up three requirements. The first was to examine the consequences of computers already in use and currently planned, the second to assess the implications over the next ten to fifteen years of present discernible trends, and the third to suggest the steps public authorities could usefully take to meet these developments. The emphasis of the preceding chapters has been on the consequences of computers already in use and planned. In this, the final chapter, we summarize our earlier findings and then go on to the second and third requirements.
