ABSTRACT

The staff at Lakeview not only achieved a significant substantive change in their approach to instruction, they also developed a significant collaborative school ethos that encouraged trust and risk-taking while allowing people to move at their own rate. They accomplished this through the efforts of a variety of players and a focus on the group as the centre for change. However, certain factors also appeared to be at work to drive that change. Those factors that stood out included peer interaction, leadership, district support, and the way they used knowledge.
