ABSTRACT
An open, inviting school greeted me the morning I first visited Lakeview. Friendly faces and student art work brightened the halls and I felt comfortable and at ease as I made my way to visit Barbara, a fourth grade teacher. When I entered her classroom she was discussing the story of Hansel and Gretel, the two children who had been abandoned in the woods by their parents only to have come into the clutches of, what for me had always been, ‘he wicked witch’.
