ABSTRACT

Diversified learners represent the wide variety of students whom teachers educate across our planet. As unique individuals, students have varying abilities and come from different cultural, racial, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds (Gargiulo & Metcalf, 2017). Diversified learners include students with high abilities (gifted and talented), students with disabilities, students with at-risk tendencies, English learners, and LGBTQ+. This textbook applies the term at-risk to bring awareness to the risk factors that impact students in their education, recognizing that all people experience risks in life, such as health and financial risks. When teaching art, we take students’ differences into account so that all students 103can experience equal opportunities and achieve learning outcomes. We strive to make a positive difference in all students’ lives through quality instruction, a choice-based art curriculum, fair assessments, and genuine care for students.
