ABSTRACT

Current administrative turnover trends, as reflected in local, state, and national statistics, reveal a school leader revolving door—a door few would choose to get stuck in. Although the school system will survive, leaving school leadership positions early is fraught with problems for both the departing school leader and for all remaining school stakeholders. This chapter will assist you in creating the power of "staying put" in your job by making the most of your leadership and interpersonal skills, work ethic, planning and organization skills, creative thinking abilities, expertise in interpretation of data, and technology talents.
