Weather, climate and climate change in the mid-latitude continental interiors: North America

This chapter examines the underlying mechanisms

and defining character of the weather and climate

of mid-latitude continental interiors with specific

reference to North America. For the purposes of

our discussions, the continental interior is defined

as the region bounded to the west by the Rocky

Mountains, to the east by the Appalachians, to the

south by the Gulf of Mexico, and to the north by

Hudson Bay.
