ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with the contract to which it relates only so far as its designrelated implications are concerned. Even these are treated fairly briefly simply to set out differences of principle from those in the JCT with contractor's design contract covered in Part 2 of this book (referred to here as 'the JCT contract'). A rounded treatment of the mostly similar parent version of the present contract, the with-quantities edition, comparing it with the JCT standard form of contract on dause-by-dause basis, is given in the present author's Building Contracts: A Practical Guide. The present contract is introduced in Chapter 4.
