The role of the producer The word ‘producer’ covers a very wide range of film production activities across fiction, documentary, animation and interactive, and different producers engage with their projects in different ways. All are focused on broadly the same aim – to bring a film idea successfully to the screen – but, just as in an organisation, different styles of management can realise that aim.
