ABSTRACT
CHAPTER 2 UNDERSTANDING ASSESSMENT In this chapter we will introduce you to some key study skills concepts and terms associated with assignments to help you develop familiarity and confidence with the language of academic assignment writing. This will include the generic language and the subjectspecific language used in setting assessments, and understanding these will help you to demonstrate your understanding of social work knowledge, values and skills, and the issues, discourses and arguments associated with them. We aim to help you navigate through what might initially seem like a maze of unfamiliar words and concepts.
