ABSTRACT
Introduction The first, and largest, section of this chapter discusses some 13 features which are traditionally associated with good research, and attempts to explain them. They fall loosely into four concerned with the initiation and undertaking of research, the internal workings of research, the applications of research, and one all-pervading issue: the ethics of research.
