ABSTRACT
This book explores the questions of how and why colleges added or abolished tenure by telling the stories of change at two sets of colleges: Scott College and Rowlette College, which altered their faculty employment policies from tenure to term contracts, and Accomac College and Lakeview College, which shifted from contracts to tenure. 1
