The field staff: their origins and their work

The conservative attitudes of the field staff can be partially explained by their position in the state. Indeed, an understanding of their origins in the colonial state and of their contemporary place in the neo-colonial state is a vital precursor to any consideration of their performance in the Gezira Board Administration.
