ABSTRACT

Today the population of Mexico is made up of three distinct groups; American Indians, Spaniards, and Mestizos (a mixture of American Indian and Spanish).

Popular in Mexico today are bullfighting, Mariachi bands which are strolling bands consisting of a standard group of instruments (two violins, a small guitar, and a wind instrument such as a trumpet), and for children pinatas which are hollow papier-mache animals covered with colorful paper and filled with pieces of hard candy. Children are blindfolded and take turns trying to break the pinata with a stick to get the candy.
