ABSTRACT

The pattern of development under planning by global proportions Table 3.1 highlights the remarkable growth achievement of the Yugoslav economy in the 1950s and early 196Os. Between 1953 and 1961 National Income nearly doubled, and industrial output rose by more than twoand-a-half times. Agriculture fell away rather after the bumper year of 1959, but was certainly firmly established on a new plateau by the early 1960s. Yugoslavia's growth record for the 1950s was, indeed, one of the most impressive in the world for that period.
