ABSTRACT

One common response to the many and varied academic, social, and personal problems that students bring to school is the development of a student support team (SST). There are many versions of the student support team. Each SST's charge is to identify the individual needs of atrisk students, frequently making referrals for counseling or treatment. The SST coordinator is an invaluable resource in the schools for the family therapist. The opportunity for the school, family, and therapist to consult and collaborate regarding intervention strategies enhances the likelihood of success. The therapist serves as a model and a bridge to foster collaboration between home and school.
