A home within is an organization that builds those networks for clinicians. It is the only national organization devoted exclusively to improving the emotional well-being of foster youth. By insisting that children must have a single, experienced therapist to work with them for as long as it takes, people begin to create an atmosphere that provides and protects relationships. A home within grows, people are coming to an ever-deepening appreciation of the power of these multiple interconnected networks. The networks vary in physical and relational proximity. Clinical work with children in foster care sometimes feels as difficult as trying to sustain contact through an unreliable internet network. The lack of a consistent, reliable, agreed upon 'gatekeeper' is one of the crucial factors that separate the childhood experience of foster children from those of children who grow up with their parents.
