ABSTRACT

Housing is not just shelter. It is home, opportunity, and security. Indeed, homes are not just sources of personal joy and security. As this book has shown, our homes also in large part determine how we are embedded in our larger society. The cost of our homes determines how much of our income and wealth we are able to invest in ourselves and in the larger economy. The location of our homes, whether we own them and if so, how they are financed, impacts our health, our wealth, and our quality of life.
