ABSTRACT

In the early 1990s I began experimenting with self-shot television

formats for television. More complex to shoot than video diaries,

self-shot series need to be formatted so they can be replicated

like any TV series. The self-shot style was a manifestation of

what Michael Rosenblum and others had been calling video

journalism since the 1960s. These formats were a forerunner to

the UGC forms of today; the big difference now is anyone has

the tools to shoot, edit and publish their own content, stories

and programs.
