ABSTRACT

This chapter will discuss a bio-psychosocial approach to assessment and will then focus on the role of adults in supporting children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). It will also suggest some useful pedagogical and assessment approaches and interventions. This chapter is closely linked to Chapter 5, which provides a framework of knowledge and understanding for early childhood professionals (ECPs) and is aligned to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) (DfE, 2014).
