ABSTRACT

In the spring of 2014, a high school senior named Kwasi Enin made headlines in the United States (or lit up the Internet depending upon your source of news), when he got accepted to all eight Ivy League schools on the basis of a stellar class rank and a 2250 SAT score. Actually, it wasn’t just this accomplishment, wonderful and impressive as it may have been, that made the story newsworthy. It was the fact that Enin was a fi rst-generation immigrant from Ghana.
