ABSTRACT

Naturalism is an unavoidable issue for Philosophy of Scientific Practice (PSP). In Joseph Rouse’s interpretation, PSP should also promote a kind of naturalism, which is not even a traditional one. It is worthwhile to notice that naturalism has never been a unique position, but only consists of various naturalistic approaches. This chapter seeks to clarify the evolutionary history of naturalism first, and then attempt to elaborate the relationship between naturalism and PSP.
