ABSTRACT

So far we have been considering the latency child. We turn now to public schools and so to adolescence. Adolescence is a formative time in which all kinds of intimate changes take place in the bodies and emotions of young people. Children in boarding school have to cope with this, as with so much else, without parental care. In order to address this, in this chapter I will attend to some common experiences of boys and the creation of a certain form of masculinity. The next chapter will focus on girls.
