ABSTRACT

Once an organisation has planted, nurtured and grown the practices associated with experiential learning, it will then go on to propagate and spread the practice more effectively and comprehensively across the organisation. This is the mature stage of the experiential-learning cycle where the technical and cultural environment has been well embedded and individuals and groups have a clear appreciation of the value of knowledge sharing. The CoP is a very specific network application that can be aligned with the aims and objectives associated with organizational learning (OL). As a communicative environment it can facilitate the externalisation of key issues related to understanding the relationship between the individual and the organisation. Rather than specifically being regarded as a direct opportunity to share knowledge, it should be regarded as a more introspective tool that can support the development of the organisational learning programme (OLP).
