ABSTRACT
Intervention in educational processes on the basis of analytics can take numerous forms. It can be at a high level, altering the structure of a degree by, for example, removing an unpopular or outdated course. It could result in changes to the curriculum, either during the course or after it is complete, as discussed in Chapter 6. Providing automated visualisations of students’ progress to them directly through dashboards and apps is also, arguably, a form of intervention (see Chapter 12). Then there are interventions taken by educators with students. These categories are not mutually exclusive but this chapter is largely concerned with the logistics of human-mediated interventions taken directly with learners while courses are under way.
