ABSTRACT

The literature base surrounding learning analytics is large and varied, reflecting the multiple disciplines from which it is derived and the diverse backgrounds and interests of those developing the area. In this book, I attempt to summarise the field: what researchers are investigating and what institutions are doing to enhance education with the ever-increasing sources of data they have at their disposal about students and their learning contexts. The book is divided into six parts: background, applications, logistics, technologies, deployment and future directions.
