ABSTRACT

Text is one of our oldest forms of instructional media. The earliest examples of writing date back to around 3100 BCE in ancient Sumer, where cuneiform marks were inscribed on clay tablets. Egyptians developed their own writing script about a century later, writing on papyrus sheets (American Printing History Association, n.d.; Gascoigne, 2001). As forms of writing have evolved over the past 5,000 years, so has the method in which text is stored and presented.
