ABSTRACT
For close on 30 years Sydney Bailey has been near the centre of the work of the British churches in international affairs. He first joined the international department of the British Council of Churches (which has since become the Division of International Affairs - DIA) in 1952, was Chairman from 1971 to 1974 and is now Vice-Chairman and an influential member of its Standing Committee.
