Women and film culture in Brazil

In one generation, Latin American women’s cinema has evolved from the singular achievement of isolated films, discovered and viewed only with difficulty, into a mature corpus of work that has created a field of its own. And yet, the history-making women of Latin American cinema remain outsiders to the Latin American and even Anglophone canon, under-recognised and still urgently in need of champions.
