Observing, measuring and recording The skill of observing, measuring and recording evidence within ‘Working scientifically’ is an integral part of the ‘scientific method’ that can also be seen as the beginning or initial skill at the start of the scientific process (Harlen and Qualter 2015). Children are naturally inquisitive – they want to engage with the world around them and use their senses to explore it. For children this exploration is the key to gathering evidence.
