ABSTRACT

Chapters 2 and 3 covered some of the most pressing issues facing farmworkers today, in addition to the historical and political contexts within which those issues were created and continue to be perpetuated. Many times throughout my own research I have felt paralyzed by the sheer complexity of what it would mean to create positive change within the farmworker community. In addition, I have been struck by what it means to go back in time and look at a system that in many ways remains unchanged despite the enormous amount of energy spent to improve the livelihood of farmworkers on behalf of many farmworker advocates over the recent decades.
