ABSTRACT
Some special functions of the family, including family values, rituals, and socialization, will be discussed here. This will be followed by elaboration of relations between sociocultural issues and the family, with emphasis on the impact of cultural change, migration, or minority status on family life. Finally, the concept of family stress and coping patterns will be reviewed from cultural perspectives.
