The first images of the 9/11 disaster came from independent photographers and tourists with cameras who captured raw emotions, especially shock, in their photos and films. For weeks television audiences worldwide experienced shock as well as grief for the victims of the terrorist attacks. Soon independent filmmakers released documentaries depicting the terrorist events from their perspectives. Wary Hollywood producers placed terroristthemed films on hold, so independents proved more assiduous in depicting the events of 9/11.
