ABSTRACT

The prospect and actuality of war can lead to the amplification of many good and bad human tendencies. Amongst the latter is the tendency to use medical knowledge, technology and intervention in ways that damage human beings. This chapter considers two contexts in which such damaging use takes place: firstly, warfare related programmes which consist of inventing/discovering, producing, testing and weaponizing (one or more of) chemical, biological and radiological agents to the end of destroying human beings and/or the environs which they rely on, and secondly, abusive experimentation performed on human beings for both the aforementioned and other warfare related ends.
