There is no matrix that has carved sensibilities more profoundly and displayed the aesthetic dimension so prolifically and everlastingly in the four registers and modalities than the religion matrix. This matrix penetrates deeply by impression into subjectivities generating personal and collective identities by the elaboration of narratives, rituals, values, and practices that have nourished the soul during millennia and inspirited sweeping passions to the degree of fanaticism, martyrdom, mystical ecstasies, sacrifice and sanctity, torture and war.
