ABSTRACT

By 1776, the Academy comprised 144 students spread across the full age range, from boys in Figures, aged about 13 years, to students in Rhetoric, aged 18 years or more, with a group of 11 senior Philosophy students as indicated in Table 7.1. A comparison with Table 2.1 demonstrates that, numerically, within three years of the suppression, the Academy was on a par with St Omers College in its heyday.
